GPR Equipment Accurately Maps Utilities

The Town of Mount Pleasant has proposed to widen a six-mile stretch of US Route 17. The existing typical section is a four-lane earth median and the proposed section will be a seven-lane planted median section.  WPC is performing the Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) quality level “B” services for the construction management firm, Dennis Corporation.  

WPC is using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment to accurately map non-tonable utilities or other underground anomalies that cannot be detected by normal designating equipment. The SUE work under this contract includes approximately eleven utilities along the mainline and approximately three utilities along the intersecting side streets.
