WPC provided a comprehensive site analysis for the construction of an emergency response, vehicle manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters for American LaFrance on a 46-acre site in North Charleston, South Carolina. The location of the building footprint, associated parking requirements, and storm water detention requirements were evaluated from all perspectives including state and federal regulation requirements. The site layout was altered numerous times to achieve the lowest level of impact to the wetland area.
Throughout the entire planning process for this large-scale manufacturing facility, impacts to jurisdictional wetlands were avoided and minimized to the maximum extent feasible while enabling the site to meet the required development criteria.
WPC was the lead consultant in the development phase, tasked with assembling a team of site contractors, civil engineers, and surveyors to meet the requirements of the development company. WPC represented the project needs on behalf of the developer to both regulatory agencies and municipal review agencies.
Understanding the time constraints to the client, which were due to a mandated relocation, WPC was able to decrease the typical processing time of obtaining an Individual Federal Wetlands Permit from one year to only three months.
